Glenville H.C. Moeller age 98, of Scribner
Died Monday August 28, 2017 at his home.

Glenville was born July 8, 1919 on a farm near Hooper to George and Adela 'Schulenberg' Moeller. He was baptized at St. John's Lutheran Church in Hooper on August 3, 1919 by the Rev. H. Frese. He was confirmed on July 9, 1933 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Hooper by the Rev. Theo Norden. He attended school at District #35 near Scribner. He entered the service on August 28, 1941. He spent over 4 years serving his country in World War II, 28 months of which was overseas. He spent time in the Southwest Pacific and fought battles from New Guinea to Manilla in the Philippine Islands. He was honorably discharged October 8th 1945 with the rank of Sergeant.

He married Valera Hasemann on February 20, 1949 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hooper. To this union two great girls, Sherilyn and Marilyn were born. He started working for Lamberty Hardware on March 1, 1949 and continued there until March 1, 1996. While employed at Lamberty Hardware he was honored as Employee of the Year by the Chamber of Commerce. Glenville joined St. Paul's Lutheran Church and served as Sunday School Superintendent and served on the church council. He later joined United Lutheran Church and served as Sunday School Superintendent, Treasurer and managed the softball team. He was an active member of the American Legion Jay Wormwood Post #121 of Scribner and was a continuous member for over 70 years. He served as Commander and then was Adjutant for 25 years and Sergeant of Arms for over 70 years. He was treasurer of the Scribner Baseball Team, served on the Scribner City Planning Board and the Good Samaritan Board of Directors, and was a member of the Scribner Chamber.

In his later years he spent many hours doing woodworking, making wall hangings, Go Big Red articles, and family jewelry boxes. He loved to golf with his friends and very much enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

1 brother-in-law, 3 sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

Glenville was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Sherilyn Lear, a grandson Matthew Lear, 2 brothers and sisters-in-law Marvin and Joyce Moeller , Verdell and Esther Moeller.

The funeral will be 10:30am Friday at United Lutheran Church in Scribner. The Rev. Dr. Nicki McIntyre will officiate. Burial will follow in the Scribner Cemetery with Military Honors. Visitation will be Thursday at Ludvigsen's Scribner Funeral Chapel from 3pm to 8pm with the family present from 6pm to 8pm. Memorials are suggested to Scribner Volunteer Rescue Squad, Scribner Volunteer Fire Department, United Lutheran Church and Make-A-Wish foundation.
