Emily L. Snide age 88, of Fremont
died Wednesday May 3, 2017 at The Heritage at Shalimar Gardens Memory Unit

Emily was born October 2, 1928 in Papillion, Nebraska to William and Ida (Sinner) Durkop. Following her school and college years, she was married on April 30, 1949 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Papillion to Kenneth L. Snide.

They farmed northwest of Valley and developed a dairy herd. During the years that her sons were growing up, she helped them as they were involved with showing dairy cattle. She had been a 4-H Leader, with her clubs involved in many different projects. Following the years that she had been busy with 4-H, she became a superintendent with the Nebraska State Fair for a number of years. After the state fair moved to Grand Island, she became active with the Washington County Fair.

Emily and Kenneth moved into Fremont in 1981. For 30 years, they spent their winters at Venture Out in east Mesa, Arizona. He husband Kenneth died in March of 2005, and her son Jerry died in January of 2014.

The funeral will be Monday 10am at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel in Fremont. Visitation will be Monday from 8am until the service. Burial will be in the Cedar Dale Cemetery in Papillion. Memorials are suggested to Washington County Friends of the Fair and Ft. Atkinson Living History Museum.

    Emily was just the kindest person. My family will always cherish the time we spent with her as volunteers at Fort Atkinson State Park. Emily was a real throw back to what the pioneer's must have been like.

    for years. We could count on their help if needed. In fact my first job
    was working for Kenneth cultivating corn. Emily fixed a lunch and brought
