Katie was born in Buffalo County, Nebraska on March 5, 1929 to Charles and Anna (Garner) Draper. She grew up in Lexington where she graduated from high school. She began working as a bookkeeper/accountant.
On November 16, 1952, Katie was married in Lexington to Eugene Sloan. After Eugene earned his bachelor's degree, they lived in several communities where he was a teacher, including Cody, Arthur, Lynch, Gibbon, and Dorchester. Katie was a secretary for several of these school systems. After Eugene's retirement from the Dorchester School system the couple moved to Lincoln for 2 years. Katie had also worked for the Lincoln Telephone & Telegraph Co. (now Windstream) in several of the communities where they lived, retiring after 20 years. They moved to Fremont in 1994.
Katie was a member of the Fremont Church of the Nazarene, the American Legion Post 158 Auxiliary of Cedar Bluffs, and she had been a volunteer with the Fremont Area Medical Center Auxiliary.
She is preceded in death by her husband Eugene (Nov. 12, 2007), by a sister and a brother.

Parker and wife Theresa Stenger of Linwood and their daughter Mallory
Brandon and wife Andrea Stenger of Cedar Bluffs and their daughter Haley
sister Patricia Ann Baker of Aurora
The funeral service is 10 AM Tuesday (Sept. 30, 2014) at the Fremont Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Tom Shaw. The committal will follow in Ridge Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to her church.
Visitation at the Ludvigsen Mortuary is on Monday (Sept. 29th) from 2 to 8 PM, with the family receiving friends from 5 to 7 PM.

North Bend, NE Thursday, October 2, 2014 We were so sorry to read of Katie's passing! Katie was always such a loving wife, mother, grandma, and great-grandma. Her family was always so important to her! She could always be found in the bleachers of her grandsons' sporting events…..always smiling and cheering them on. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
