Ed was born January 19, 1943 on a farm near Dodge, Nebraska to Jerry and Ida 'Karel' Mundil. The family moved to a farm near Clarkson, Nebraska where he attended country school and graduated from Clarkson High School in 1961. He received his Bachelor Degree from Wayne State College in 1965 and Masters Degree in 1971 from Kearney State College (now University of Nebraska at Kearney). Ed taught in Aurora, Nebraska for 6 years then began his career at Logan View Public Schools in the fall of 1971 where he remained until he retired. Ed and his wife Joan owned and operated Happy Acres Greenery near Uehling.

Ed started the Science Fair at Logan View, he taught advanced Biology for college credit and was named Outstanding Biology Teacher in Nebraska for 1980. He was involved in the Logan View Education Association and the Logan View Education Foundation. He was baptized, had first communion, and confirmed all at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Hooper.

Ed was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Nebraska Education Association, Hooper Commercial Club, Uehling Business Club, Uehling Lions Club, Uehling Famous Follies and Drama Association (UFFDA), Nebraska Florist Society, Omaha Magical Society and was an Admiral in the Great Navy of the State of Nebraska. Ed taught Hunters Safety and he helped organize the ESU Science Fair.

Ed married Joan Sila on December 27, 1967 in Lyons, Nebraska

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Helen, Agnes, Evelyn and his brothers Jerry and Milo.

The funeral mass will be 11am Saturday, August 12 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Hooper. Rev. Damien Wee will officiate. Lunch will follow the service with the committal in the Clarkson Bohemian National Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday at Ludvigsen's Hooper Funeral Chapel with the family from 5pm to 8pm. Visitation will continue for one hour before the service at the church in Hooper. Memorials are suggested to the Logan View Education Foundation.
