Kenneth R. Kudlac, age 80, of Fremont
died early Thursday, August 25, 2016 in Nye Legacy, Fremont.

He was born to Rudolph and Verona (Broekemeier) Kudlac on December 8, 1935 in Howells, Nebraska. He grew up on the farm near Howells and graduated from Howells High School in 1953. He served in the United States Army during the years of 1956 and '57.

In his early working years he was a home builder with Sherlock Homes in Fremont until beginning employment with Fremont's Dept. of Utilities. Most of those years, he worked at the power plant, retiring after 35 years.

His church and his family were very important to him. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where he was involved in many of its activities. He served as an usher for many years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 20 and a member of the Fremont Honor Guard for several years. He was also a member of the Fremont Eagles Aerie 200.

Kenneth's first wife, Marlene Pagels, has preceded him in death. He is also preceded by his parents, Rudolph and Verona, and his step-father Walter Heuerman, and his step-sisters Carol Russman and Wanda and husband Floyd Monette.

On December 11, 1965, Kenneth was married to Donna Daberkow Matthies in St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Wisner. Fremont has been their home all their married years.

The funeral service will be 10 AM Monday (August 29, 2016) at Trinity Lutheran Church. The committal will follow in Memorial Cemetery with Military Honors by the Fremont Honor Guard of American Legion Post 20 and VFW Post 854. Visitation at the Ludvigsen Mortuary, Fremont, will be on Sunday from 2 to 7 PM, with the family receiving friends from 5 to 7 PM. Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church.
