Laura L. Phares age 61 of Fremont
Died Friday October 2, 2015 at Nye Legacy Health and Rehab.

Laura Lynn (Maddox) Phares was born August 29th, 1954 in Lincoln, Nebraska to Gerald and Shirley (Olsen) Maddox. Laurie grew up in Lincoln, graduating from Lincoln Southeast High School in 1972. She then attended the nursing program at Lincoln General, which included a year at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. It was at UNL that Laurie met her future husband, Robert Phares. Laurie graduated from Lincoln General and obtained her registered nurse license.

Bob and Laurie were married February 3rd, 1978. They began their marriage living in Storm Lake, Iowa where Laurie worked at Methodist Manor. In 1980, they moved to Fremont, Nebraska where they would raise their family. Together they had three children Karl, Amy, and Abby. Laurie loved her role as a mother and stayed home full time while working part time at the hospital to maintain her nursing license. In 2005, Bob and Laurie relocated to Chanhassen, Minnesota. After her cancer diagnosis, they returned to Fremont in 2007 to be near family and a large support system of close friends.

Laurie was a devoted spouse, loving mother, beloved daughter, caring nurse, and dear friend to many. She loved a good song with a beat, reading, gardening, laughing with friends, and attending all of her kids' events. Laurie had the joy of being at her children's weddings and knowing her three grandsons Harvey, Henry, and Charlie.

Laurie is survived by her husband, Bob Phares; mother, Shirley Maddox; son Karl and his wife Anna and their son Henry; daughter Amy and her husband Mike Carlson and their sons Harvey and Charlie; daughter Abby Jones; and brother, Tom Maddox and his husband Randy Clark. She was preceded in death by her father, Gerald Maddox.
